Route: South Ridge Ascent and Rhyd Ddu Descent
Starting/Finish location: Rhyd Ddu car park, A4085, LL54 6TN
If you are after an intermediate level challenge, this one’s for you. The South Ridge is a great way to go. Quarry paths take you up onto the hillside where stone steps lead you up onto the pathway up with some little scrambling sections thrown in to negotiate which all make it a fantastic varied route up! Descend down onto the Rhyd Ddu path which zigzags you back down to the start!

PLAN FOR THE DAY
Meet and greet
Meet and greet session with your instructor approx. 8:45am. Discuss weather, route and confirm any medical details.
Begin Walk
Set off up the mountain up the slate quarry paths.
Rocky sections
Paths change to smaller trails over rocky sections leading up to the ridge.
South ridge
Much smaller, windier paths then lead you up across the south ridge to the summit of Snowdon.
Summit
Arrive at the summit!! Plenty of time to climb the steps up to the summit trig to reach the highest point in England and Wales! Hafod Eryri café open in the summer months (weather dependant) for refreshments and a toilet stop.
Descent
Remembering you are only half way here (!) begin the descent back down retracing your steps until the path splits and you descend the Rhyd Ddu path back down.
Arrive back
Arrive back in Rhyd Ddu at approx. 4pm
